George Edward Harney
George Edward Harney (1840–1924) was a late-19th century American architect based in New York City.[1]
Buildings
- Plumbush (1865), in Cold Spring, New York, a house built for Robert Parker Parrott, the inventor of the Parrott gun. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
- The Episcopal Church of St Mary-in-the-Highlands (1868) in Cold Spring, New York, where Harney was a vestryman.[2]
- 670 Broadway (1873-1874) at Bond Street, originally built as the Brooks Brothers store and offices, their third[3]
- John Ballantine House (1885), in Newark, New Jersey, was built for beer baron John Holme Ballantine in a mixture of styles including Renaissance Revival and Colonial Revival. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1985. The brick and limestone house in now part of a museum.[4]
- Moffat Library (1887) in Washingtonville, New York, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
- Mercantile Library Building (1890) at 13 Astor Place, also known as Clinton Hall. The building has been through numerous uses: a hotel, the headquarters of a union, and, now, condominium apartments.[5]
